Making the connection
CAMCERAM® is a new, biphasic bone-graft substitute developed by CAM Implants
BV. CAMCERAM® is an extensively researched and evaluated combination of
hydroxyapatite and ß-tricalcium phosphate. CAMCERAM's hydroxyapatite/
ß-tricalcium phosphate ratio of 60/40 is widely accepted as the ideal
composition. Most clinical evidence is based on this. However, unlike
some other biphasic materials, CAMCERAM® is not simply a mixture of these
two elements. We synthesize the combination of hydroxyapatite/ß-tricalcium phosphate,
creating a new molecule with new characteristics. This molecule remains
constant throughout the whole process of resorption and bone formation,
reducing the risk of cavities or fibrous bone ingrowth to almost zero.
More importantly, CAMCERAM® products have a bioceramic matrix that is
extremely biocompatible and osteoconductive. The exceptional purity of
the raw materials used in the production of CAMCERAM® and its highly interconnected
pores are prerequisites for bone ingrowth.
